Fort Ridgely Equestrian Center is a family-owned horse stables where the primary focus is the welfare of your horse. The stable is small enough to give you and your horse personalized care, yet can provide access to some of the most scenic trails in Minnesota, along with opportunities for the best in farrier, vet and chiropractic care. Sarah Maass, manager, of Fort Ridgely Equestrian Center – has over 20 years experience with horses. Her family has been very involved with 4-H activities, including many trips to the state show, and daughter, Dana, competed in national 4-H Horse Bowl. Sarah has been a judge for the regional Horse Bowl, and is also the author of five children’s books about horse breeds. The Maass family has been involved in several disciplines, including Trail Riding, Games, Western and English Pleasure (WSCA), Jumping, Endurance Riding and Competitive Trail Riding. With kids having outgrown 4-H, they have gotten very involved with Distance Riding, and compete in races in the upper Midwest, at distances ranging from 25-100 miles. Their distance horses are what you could call “extreme” trail horses, and the not-so-fast trail horses are expected to be equally trail-savvy. This facility focuses mainly on boarding, but does offer training to one or two horses at a time, and also offers riding lessons. If you don’t want the responsibility of owning a horse, but one of your own to ride, contact Sarah about leasing; this option allows you to have a horse here that is yours to ride, either on a full-lease or partial-lease basis. |
